23 Oct Halifax screening picks — October 23-29
I spent most of last week music-festing and I’m playing hurried catch-up with the cinema scene today, but here are a couple of quick hits on screenings of note this week:
- Carbon Arc Cinema this Friday has the Slovak-Czech satiric drama The Teacher, “a sardonic, richly seriocomic morality play that uses a delicate touch to explore why communism never seems to work out in the long run.”
- Cineplex Park Lane for Halloween this weekend has the 1931 classics Dracula and Frankenstein, and Park Lane and Dartmouth Crossing on Sunday continue the 2017 Studio Ghibli retrospective with the English dub of the Hayao Miyazaki classic Spirited Away.
